GOLD!!!!!

Do I need to say anymore?

Canada + Hockey = GOLD!

And when it involves beating the yanks, it can't get any better.

Grenserittet booked

Now I have just signed up for my second Grenserittet which is scheduled for August 7. And this year I will respect the massive hill in the middle where I faced quite a nasty leg cramp last time.

Core hits me

I know that I am having many revelations lately when it comes to my training. But it just never ceases to amaze me what my body is capable of.

Today I did Core 45 and I have never felt so strong in my stomach and back. Everything went well today which means everything hurts like hell right now. I am just wondering why I never thought of this before. Yes, Core is core for running, cycling and many other things. So I think I will up this to twice a week instead. I noticed also that you can do 60 min spinning and this 45 min pass back-to-back on Saturdays. =)

Otherwise, all the bike paths or sidewalks in Partille are a crappy mix of water and ice so we will see what it is like tomorrow. I just need one good hill which is free from ice. Anyone know of any?

+4 C but still crap

What can I say? The weather today has turned all the nice snow into a crappy mix of ice and water. Things are looking even worse for my weekend run or ride. Maybe I should just go and run around IKEA or something. Or better yet, why don't I take my cross bike and use the sofas for stair practice. Yes, that sounds perfect!

I forgot to mention that I ordered my Ridley X-Ride frame yesterday so the gang down there in Belgium can make me one before they switch over to LVG stuff. In three weeks it will be time for some pictures...

+2C finally!

This morning it was +2C and the snow was melting pretty good. Could this mean that I might actually be able to ride this weekend? It will be wet and messy but I can live with that.

In other news, I am surprisingly stiff after last night's running. I haven't decided about BodyPump tonight but we shall see.

Sportlife Running - v8

Now it is time for me to give a very good promotion for Sportlife because today's members benefit was well worth my 299kr/month. From v8-19 on thursdays down at Skatås, they offer some quality running passes. I know that GöteborgsVarvet has their sessions on the weekend but I found them less useful than tonight.

I had to run about 2km just to make it on time due to bloody Västtrafik so I was warmed up and ready to go. But tonight was about various types of strength training under the heading of Löpteknik/löpkoordination. So my arms and legs were getting all stretched and people walking their dogs got a nice look at our group hopping on 1 foot or other strange things. But this really helped. And unlike BodyPump, you could actually get it without 3 weeks of trying.

There was a guy from Hisingens CK there who heard I was from Mölndals CK and said 'So you ride with the fast boys...' Damn right I do! =)

Working from home

Tomorrow I am working from home which is very good because the commute is short. It is only 3 metres from my bed to the computer so I should manage that in less than the 45 minutes it normally takes be to get to work. =)

Just dont tell anyone about the sovmorgon I have planned...not too long but at least until 08.00.

Just a thought

There are not many pictures here lately so rather than post one of myself, you can have this one of Anna Haag (left) and Charlotte Kalla (right) after their silver medal win...

Bild: Janerik Henriksson, Article GP

Haag competes for Mora IK when she is not advertising for Craft. She also represents yet another fine example of what I like about Dalarna.

On a related topic, it would be very nice to have a girlfriend from Dalarna or one with a summer house there. When I look at all the races up there this coming season, we are talking many expensive nights in hotels. =(

Tough morning

Yes, welcome to Tuesday. And on this bitter cold day you get to sit twice as long on the bus because people are driving in the bus lane. Excellent. I could have walked to work faster today.

In other news, I will take a vilodag today because my body is far too pumped for BodyPump. Återhämtning is also training. =)

Cykel 30 / Core 30

I have already had to change my training plans for the week. But work is important since I need to buy a few bike parts.

This double pass felt so much worse today than the first time I tried it, probably because of my stupid run yesterday. The only real challenge in the spinning is the last song with 3 sets of 2 min/30 s intervals at a pretty high tempo. And you can always choose how jobbig it is so I made sure it was torturing. And then they tried to squeeze everything from Core 45 into the 30 minute version which makes it too rushed.

I can understand why triathlon is so tough. Passes back-to-back are always more challenging than each on their own. Now it is sofa time for me...

I will not get upset...

I will not get upset about any of the following things:

1. It is snowing yet again here in Göteborg.
2. Canada lost to the US in OS hockey which is actually way worse than if Sweden loses to Finland.
3. People honestly believe that all cyclists cheat, cross-country skiers are the finest athletes ever born and that Swedes would never think of doping.

Okay, I will not get upset about #1 and #2 but #3 pisses me off. At first I thought like you Peter in that maybe Saturdays ski race would bring more interest to cycling. But now I doubt it.

Cycling is one of the few sports that everyone can do no matter which level they are at. If you want to ride 20km in a race, you can do that. If you want 300km, you can do that too. No one is going to make you sit on a bench in cycling while the 'better' players get to play.

In 2005 when I decided to try my first ever MTB race, Långa Lugnet in Falun, and thought I could make it 110km on a hybrid, no one stopped me. (I stopped myself after 40km.) In fact the people in Falu CK were very encouraging. And now for 2010, my 4th actual season of racing, I am still welcome to grow and improve my skills. How many other sports would give me the chance to race in an SM after 3 years?

Cycling is the finest sport we have and I am more than fed up with having to defend it. Its no wonder why I will race a lot in Norway this season. Norwegians get the point of cycling.

Running for dummies

After Göteborg receives the worst snowstorm of the year, running is not the first thing one would think of. But what the hell...it is Sunday. The sun was shining.

This was pure torture running in uneven footprints in 20cm deep snow. Like running 5km in sand. I had no grip at all and my feet and legs were getting so twisted that I could have joined Cirque de Soleil.

Time: 59:44.3
Energy: 838 kcal
Hr peak: 189
Hr average: 164

Distance? Good question. I took the short route around Furulund forest because I could hardly run. But on the way back down the Landvettervägen hill which was ploughed, I kept going and took a loop around Allum. This was mostly to untwist my body and to see how many people would stare at me for running. The answer? Many!

Tears over the latest medals

Basically everyone on SVT was in tears after Hellner's gold and Olsson's bronze after a magical 15km classic/15km free last night. But for a cyclist, this seemed perfectly natural.

I wonder why they constantly said that this was the first time the team worked together as a team. Most Vasaloppet I have watch were like this. But I supposed this was the first time where it was so obvious that Hellner and Södergren were trying to slow the rest down.

If the average Swede loves this, why do they always criticize cycling so much? Watching cycling would give the same excitement every time. I say one thing alone...Spring Classics! Okay, I say two things...cyclocross gives this excitement and you can actually cover it on TV.

Speaking of cross, don't miss the final of GVA Trofee today. Last chance to see cross until next season.

Västtrafik declares force majeure

Because of the pretty hefty snowstorm which is still going strong, Västtrafik (public transit company) declared 'force majeure'. In other words, they were not even going to try to keep to their timetable. So obviously I had to hop on the bus and head på stan to see the chaos myself. Here are some pictures from my Galaxy Spica. They are a bit grey but it was grey out.

Avenyn looks quite peaceful for a Saturday.

The trams had it tough today although a few were rolling still. I heard an announcement that none were going to Hisingen at all.

No delays on the E45. No cars either. =)

Yet somehow the ferry Älvsnabben was working fine.

It goes without saying that SJ was reporting delays on the trains. But they have just as many delays on a perfectly sunny day in July.

No running for me today, in other words. Hopefully I can get out tomorrow.

Commuter bike tips

And now for something different...I would like some tips on a cheap bike. I will start riding to work and need a decent commuter bike. I know that I could use my old Trek MTB but it looks like something worth stealing and my plan was to offer this as a 'vuxennybörjare' bike for MCKs new MTB focus.

Some type of hybrid around 4000kr would be ideal and it has to survive flying along the grusväg passed Skatås. Nishiki is pretty popular where I work so that would blend in.

If you know of any super deal on a quality commuter bike, write a comment. Tack tack!

BodyPerfection

Finally a miracle happened. Tonight, in the middle of another massive snowstorm here in Göteborg, I figured out BodyPump. Instructor Helen explained things in a way that made me finally get it. Or, like she said, it was probably because this was my 4th time. But I think she should take my compliment in this case and forget the jantelagen stuff.

Once you have the technique you can just keep increasing the weight when you get stronger, like the Nautilus method. So I went to 12kg for the knee bends/legs and OMFG that hurt. 7kg for everything else was respectable because of the 5 minutes of repetitions which hurt more and more.

Now I have earned a pizza and a night of OS. Trevlig helg!

Rain? YES! No. Ugh

This morning it was actually raining a bit on the way to work. For the first time in my life I was happy to see rain! But it has stopped already. Instead we are left with a pile of new snow from last night and even more sloppy slushy roads.

Running in the forest should be interesting this weekend. I will need a lifevest with all this wet snow.

Galaxy Spica back and better than ever

I got my phone back from Telia and they seem to have updated the whole operating system and actually set things up to work here in Sweden. Before when I pressed something, it would sit there thinking 'nja, maybe later'. Now it just works. Although why they installed a game where you throw penguins at polar bears is a bit of a mystery.

So I guess this is like Microsoft or Toyota...lets start selling a half-finished product and we can fix things later on.

Getting right to my core

Time again for S Core 45 and this was the same feeling as yesterday. Some strength things I am doing at a level equal to or better than the instructor but other things are just hopeless. Why can't I seem to do a situp? What they expect are crunches but even that I end up pulling my neck while my stomach just sits there checking out the women. Yes, 2 guys and 30 women.

Despite the fact that there is zero cardio in this at all, many of the exercises are for the stomach. And it is good to make some attempt to shrink my growing gubbmage.

Aj

Träningsvärk is one of those strange things. I woke up this morning feeling rather blää and a bit stiff everywhere yet last night I had far more specific pain in my legs and biceps.

This feeling is the same I get after a good CX race. I don't really understand how I am using every muscle in my body but apparently I am. Interesting. One could perhaps argue that I am so out of shape that no matter what I do will be useful. But if that was true I would not even be able to run up the Furulund hill without dying.

More gold

Another day another gold, kan man säga. This time in biathlon with none other than Björn Ferry. Races are so much more exciting with jaktstart because then you have some idea of who is leading. Plus you can also ignore silly SVT commentators. Same in cycling...how exciting is it to watch a tempo race on TV?

BodyPissed

I was getting very frustrated at BodyPump tonight. After 3 times, I would expect to get some kind of technique but it just wasn't coming. Each 4-5 minute song is one muscle group and when done right, this should be plenty of torture. I figured out the biceps technique and the stomach but the rest was just rather confused. I felt nothing at all in the chest song. But on the positive side, I did do my 15 proper pushups and the plankan thing plus the tricep dips. In other words, I did all the things which require no timing and that I could just as well do at home.

So I asked the instructor after and hopefully that will help. Friday I will know.

Super excellent training plan

After some experimenting, I have come up with my super excellent training schedule which will make me a super excellent fast cyclist in no time at all. Or?

Monday: BodyPump
Tuesday: vilo
Wednesday: S Core 45
Thursday: Sportlife's running night
Friday: BodyPump
Saturday or Sunday: A nice long run

No matter what the result, this is what I can manage with work schedules and stuff so this is my plan for the next 3-4 weeks. Then I can switch over to more cycling.

Billingeracet, my first 'real' race of the season, is 16 maj so I am not too worried that it is snowing right now...still...

Kalla was hot

Grattis to Charlotte Kalla for her gold medal in the 10km freestyle tonight. This was one hell of a race with a lead from start to finish. After the last two days where I was wondering if the Swedish team was mixing up the glid and fäst wax, things are looking better.

Bild: Lars Baron, Article from GP

I also think that Markus Hellner deserves equal praise for trying the absolute best he could. When you lie paralyzed on the ground for 5 minutes after a race, you can't possibly try any harder. This is a true athlete. Where are the articles on him?

Anyway, now Sweden will not feel so bad when they lose the gold in hockey. =)

Canadian music tips

Tonight I will 'enjoy' my träningsvärk with some OS and a bit of music. For you with Spotify, here are some albums from Canadian artists.

The Classics
Tragically Hip - Yer Favourites (greatest hits)
Bryan Adams - So Far So Good
Leonard Cohen - The Essential Leonard Cohen
Neil Young
Sarah McLachlan - Closer (greatest hits) (her earliest stuff was best)

Something unique
Crash Test Dummies - The Ghosts that haunt me
Wild Strawberries - Quiver
Our Lady Peace - Clumsy
Damhnait Doyle - Shadows wake me
Cowboy Junkies

New & indie
Arcade Fire
Feist - The Reminder
The Most Serene Republic - ...And the ever expanding universe
Metric -

Some sounds you may recognize and in most cases the Canadian band was first but did not have the distribution deals of the American bands. That is how it always works. Of course there are many more artists and groups but this is fine for now.

Listening to my heart (and running)

Since it is Valentine's Day, I thought I should follow my heart with my Suunto T3 heartrate watch. But I will not be a cheesy romantic since I am single and think this 'holiday' is a bit silly.

So, today I did the whole 7.5km trail up at Furulund so the total distance should have been 12.7km. But measuring where I thought I went on Eniro gave me 11km. So I really have no clue.

Time: 1:04:17
Peak hr: 193
Average hr: 171
Training Effect: 5
Energy: 1002 kcal

The numbers don't lie...this is a tough route. On the flat parts my hr was down to a more reasonable 160. Going downhill I sped up so I never really rested. But having the watch motivated me to make a good time so I would have something to work for later. Obviously I need to get this under 1 hour.

Good pass. Bad träningsvärk Monday guaranteed.

Sveriges minsta cykelblogg

After a very detailed analysis of the number of visitors I have in relation to how often I update, I can now officially declare this site Sveriges minsta cykelblogg! Nu ska vi festa! =)

But seriously, thanks to my readers who continue to follow my adventures. When the weather is better, I think we should arrange a little Tour de Göteborg. Yes, when the weather is better...

Let the games begin!

I am sure that most of you have been watching the opening ceremonies so I don't need to write about the cool visual effects or the giant bear that came out of the floor of the stadium.

The obvious underlying message of today was to poke Americans in the eye for the way they act in this world. We have always done this and we always will do this. Anyone who has been to Canada can tell the difference right away.

Most of the show was talking about how people from any origin or country can live together happily in Canada. The USA segregates their immigrants and Sweden is somewhere between the two. I can't answer the question of how we became this way but it could be due to the French. As you may know, Québec, a province on the eastern side, threatened to separate from Canada in the 70s unless they became recognized as a minority group in the country. Since then, they have continued to argue in government for this recognition. During the 80s, Canada changed their immigration policies to allow more people to come in. Since we only have 33 million, one would think that there is lots of room for more people. But one has to think whether this openness started because of Québec. Sort of like this...if we recognize Québec we recognize everyone else.

So what about nature? Well, around Toronto where I grew up there are 10 million people to share nature with. Det går inte. Sure you can find little green areas around to go for a walk in the 'forest' but nothing like what is next to me here in Göteborg. Nature depends on where you are. In the Rockies, of course you will be impressed.

If you have any Canada questions, just ask. You can even email them to hejchris2 @ gmail.com if you do not want to comment.

Even if the flame lighting didn't go quite like the planned, it was still a good show. And I really appreciate that they left out Celine Dion...

BodyPooped

Fy fan! I feel absolutely dead right now. I was curious to see how many people would be at the gym on a Friday night. The answer...quite a few. But BodyPump was not so crowded. Two instructors were there because one is leaving and both were screaming a lot. And without getting into any discussions of women who scream during exercise, I will just say that it very motivating. Even if they were lifting twice what I was and laughing.

Once you get the technique, this hurts like a bitch. And I had most of it down today which explains how I feel. Aj.

Tomorrow is vilodag for me. Good thing OS is one all day. =)

En cykel för alla?

I have been sitting here drooling while reading about all the cool parts I could buy for my bikes. The thought is always the same...if I buy this I will be faster! That is how advertising works. But I always think back to my first långlopp races like Lida Loop when I was using my 14kg Trek bike and no SPD shoes. When I was passing people with 10kg Canyon bikes towards the end, I thought how much of a waste of money that was for them. I do not regret buying my Full Dynamix because it is much better climbing and faster on grusväg than my old tank. But if I spent twice as much, would I be that much faster?

So my debate question for you is this...how much depends on the equipment? If we were all riding the same bike, the winner would be decided based on skill and strength instead of wallet size. Or? I know that this has been debating by UCI but what about those at our level?

At the moment, CX in this country is pretty uniform when it comes to equipment because there is limited selection available here. But in MTB or LVG, success seems to be easier for those connected to a cycling store. I would not complain about some free stuff either. Free stuff from Ridley would be most appreciated. =)

So what do you think? Am I talking utopia here again or do I have a point?

Vancouver 2010

Finally, the eyes of the world are turning to Vancouver for some fine winter sports. Perfect timing too since I am fed up with the lack of other things to watch on TV. Although the 'Fusilli Jerry' episode of Seinfeld never gets old. =)

Being a Canadian, I can say that our stores have been full of OS 2010 clothes, toys and other things ever since it was announced that we would have the games. Obviously, it is good for tourism to put up signs everywhere saying 'future site of olympics'. I have never actually been in Vancouver but I can say that it rains a lot there. So I would not be surprised at pictures of the city with no snow. Most of the events are up in the mountains. They have been improving the roads and railway up to these places just to handle all the extra traffic. And you can bet that every hotel chain has a place nearby now. So much money is invested. If you want, I can post some pictures of what they built in Montréal for their OS. Montréal was nothing before their olympics.

Of course now there is already a doping scandal (see GP article here) to take focus away from the opening ceremonies. Like I said before, the higher the gain, the more likely people will cheat. And you know that many countries offer big rewards for bringing home a gold medal...

-15 C

And so starts another day of -15C here in Göteborg. Blah. A dose of global warming would go very nicely right now...

Enough sillyness

Sorry...as I said I earlier, I am in a silly mood but this has to stop now. Nej, enough sillyness for today. This is supposed to be a very serious blog. Yes...and I am a world champion in cycling... =)

Beckii Cruel

In these days of Idol and throwaway culture, I guess I am not surprised by 14-year-old Rebecca Flint from the UK. Apparently she likes Japanese culture. That I can agree with. Just look at Haruki Murakami, the world's greatest writer. And the mix of high-technology and minimalistic design has made Japan #1 on my list of places I would love to go if I suddenly had money.

So what did Rebecca do to follow her dream? First, use the name Beckii Cruel. Second, dress like an anime star and dance along to Japanese music. Finally, post it on YouTube. So lets have a look at the result...

1.7 million viewings for this. Sure it is funny. Lets see another...

For this fine collection of work, Rebecca has been signed to Tokuma Japan and just released an album. She already has a DVD called This is Beckii Cruel: Too Cute to be Real. Obviously, she will also get a free trip to Japan.

I don't get this stuff at all. Culture? About as cultural as Crazy Frog, Basshunter or everyone's favourite Gunther. I guess the only way I will make it to Japan is by throwing on a kilt...

S Core 45 - now we're talking

Tonight I tried the 45 minute variant of S Core without any spinning before. One could call this more hardcore than S Core 30. I have no clue what the S means but since I am in a silly mood I will guess Super Core, Strength Core or Sorry Core because that is how I will feel tomorrow. Sportlife Core could also be an option but that would be boring.

Anyway, the instructor said that the first time you try Core you will probably not feel anything. But by the 3rd time, your body will figure out what you are doing and then the 'fun' starts. When a fitness trainer says 'fun', it's gonna hurt. But she was wrong because the fun started for me on this 2nd time. OMFG is what a fjortis bloggare would say. *lol* =)

Finally I have found exactly the pass I need to compliment my running and cycling. And that feels good. My body, however, is screaming at me with a very upset Italian accent...
tisdag 9 februari 2010

Seg

A quick pass on the trainer seemed like a good idea until I actually started. Everything feels stiff at the moment and 'seg' describes my whole day really. Training days like this suck.

Telia again

Just got back from Allum again after a visit to the Telia store to discuss my useless defective Samsung phone. The guy agreed that it was defective but not with the same degree as the girl the other day. Anyway, it is sent for repair and will be back in less than 2 weeks. Maybe then it might even work!

They gave me a replacement Samsung phone which looks like it is about 5 years old. Hmm...do they get many returns? Jaja. It goes without saying that my SIM card is back in my good old Nokia for now...
måndag 8 februari 2010

The uniform is here!

Tonight was the annual meeting of Mölndals CK which meant a lot of typical meeting stuff and semlor. The new uniforms have arrived and they look great! So even when I am moving slowly, I will look damn good doing so. =) For a preview, check out this gallery!

Then I tried to get home using two Västtrafik trains and that went horribly wrong as usual. No wonder I always end up driving to Lindome. Let's get rid of this snow crap so I can start riding everywhere again...
söndag 7 februari 2010

Sven Nys and stupid Samsung

What a weekend for Sven Nys with wins in Lille and Zonhoven. Today's race featured a massive downhill in pure sand which naturally led to a few spectacular over the handlebar crashes. Then again, it is sand so it would be better than my similar crashes in the forest.

Then I went to Telia and my dumma smartphone put on quite a show of malfunctioning. So I can return with my receipt and they will fix it. This is no software issue...this is completely messed up.

Stupid Samsung phone

After many attempts, I got my Samsung Galaxy Spica unlocked again. There is some major bug in this Android system because when I hold down the lock key, nothing happens. What is supposed to happen is that the phone is unlocked.

So once it was unlocked, I took this 'I am fed up' picture (note that I shaved!!!). So after Superprestige cross which starts now, I will take a trip down to Allum and see what Telia has to say about this. Stay tuned...

Furulund fun - Day 2

Since it was still nice and snowy out, I went for a run basically the same as yesterday. This time when I got up to Furulund I turned right on the 5km trail instead of going straight and was faced with a monster of a hill. =) What a great trail. My performance was not any better than yesterday but it will do.

I have two complaints though. The first is my stupid Samsung Galaxy Spica phone is shite and will not unlock itself. So I could not take a picture of the nice hill. So it looks like I will end up taking my camera anyway. Stupid smartphone. And second was the running club that I met on the trail twice. None of them said 'hej' even though I was. I guess only cyclists say 'hej' to each other. So these two things made me angry enough to find the strength to get home after my second 8km run of the weekend.
lördag 6 februari 2010

Beautiful day...less beautiful run

Today was one of those beautiful sunny days so I had to take a run this morning. Even if it was -4C and pretty slippery, how often can you run in scenery like this...

Of course my body felt like shite and running was just pure pain today. But I haven't been able to run for 2 weeks so I should not be so shocked.

And maybe one can see from this picture that I looked a wee bit tired. But I was bright and colourful. No wonder the dogs were barking so much. =) With this picture I can also see why people say I have a mustasch and that is apparently not a good thing. I guess the 3-day-unshaven look is too 00-talet now.

Pimp my MTB again

I think it will be easier to suggest prylar if I give a few more details. The components are all Shimano XT so the gears and brakes are just fine. The fork is Rock Shox Recon SL which is probably good enough. The wheels are Fulcrum Red Metal 5 and those I am happy with. Everything else is the cheapest parts from FSA.

I specialize in marathon but do a bit of XC and I am pretty happy with its grusväg speed. My only complaint is that I can never get the XT triple gears adjusted well enough to use the gears I want. This is why a double vevparti instead of a triple could be an option.

My biggest complaint is the stability. Instead of adjusting my way to a good ride, I have been trying to learn how to make the bike behave well in the corners. It feels like my position is all wrong (too upright, not enough racing). My height/size puts me between two sizes so I have the larger one because this was supposed to be best for marathon. But it would be better to have the front end lower. So what I need is to start experimenting with bars, steering and settings. This is a jungle and I have no clue where to start.

Is that more clear?

Pumped indeed

Today I woke up with that sweet sensation of whole-body stiffness that one only gets after a complete workout. I suppose I have to conclude that Bodypump is da shit.

Obviously free weights are better than machines that limit your motion. But if this is so good, why was there only one biffig bodybuilder type there? Soon enough I will know which method is really da shit.
torsdag 4 februari 2010

Bodypump or humiliation?

Anyone who saw me at MTB SM last year in Falun knows that I can keep cool while making a complete ass of myself. So I thought it was time to try out Bodypump at Sportlife. There were about 5 guys and 40 women so I was surrounded and also worried since this was my first time ever with this kind of pass.

To keep some type of respect, I never had less than 5kg on the bar but no more than 10kg because I had no idea what was coming. And the worst part was my complete lack of co-ordination. When the rest of the room was lifting the bar, I was letting it down. With practice it will be fine but tonight I felt so stupid.

My strength was fine except for the bench press which made my muscles shake in a bad way which made the bar also shake. Oops. Triceps and biceps were fine but my shoulders and knees are not happy. The pushups hurt because I did them properly. A real man can't do a pushup with knees on the ground. And that plankan thing is wonderful.

So I survived but need to work on a few things. This was zero cardio so I wasn't sweating. But others were so I should probably increase the weight when I have the timing down.

And, no, I will not try aerobics.

Pimp my MTB

Now is when all of the new 2010 parts start coming out so I start to wonder what can I buy this year to pimp my MTB. The big news of the year is SRAM's XX group but I can't afford that so I am not even going to open their website. Well, okay, just once. =)

My Full Dynamix is already completely Shimano XT but I could maybe switch the crankset to something from FSA. The wheels are fine but I noticed that they have used some really cheap components for things like seatposts and handlebars. That could be worth changing.

So I ask you out there in cyberspace...what should I start with? Tack för tipset!
tisdag 2 februari 2010

Pain

All that pilates 'hopping on one leg' crap last night seems to have given me a sore knee. I guess I get to take it easy today then. Which is fine because there are other things I should also do, like laundry and cleaning.
måndag 1 februari 2010

Sportlife double pass

Now I have time to train again so I started the week with 2 passes back-to-back: Cykel 30 and S-Core 30. It was a bit strange because half the room was doing both while the rest were complete beginners who thought the idea of cycling for a whole 30 min was torture. I positioned myself strategically so that I would not discourage anyone. Of course I managed to be next to one of those annoying women who never sweats while I was splashing everything and everyone.

I would not be allowed to call myself a cyclist if I didnt do this pass at max speed, max resistance, max vomitkänsla. I was actually going for about 40 min because I was early and knew what to do with the bike. The fine choice of hard rock music pushed me even harder.

So once I had drained myself of energy, I still had another pass to do. Core training seems appropriate after cycling when my muscles are tired because it is precisely at that point I am likely to lose balance and fall. But I was having trouble following the instructor through the sea of asses in the room so I just looked over to my neighbour who seemed to know what she was doing. This training I need more of...a lot more of.

My balance is not so useless but it needs work. About all I was good at was the plankan but that is just strength and no balance stuff. One leg out in front of you, knee bends, arms still? No, more like arms waving frantically and muscles shaking. All I know is that I will not try yoga because this whole body relaxation really does make you feel like farting. And that is not appreciated in a room full of women.
